1. TARGET: Who is Your Customer?
Your billboard will be geared toward your target market. Start by describing the person you think is your customer.
2. BENEFITS: What's in it for me?
The benefits for your buyer must be clearly stated on your billboard. Ask yourself what values or benefits your product or service will provide.
3. FEATURES: What is it?
Benefits appeal to the emotions of your buyer. Features identify physical characteristics of your product or service and answer the question, "What is it?"
4. AN OFFER THAT CAN'T BE REFUSED!
Distinguish yourself from the rest of the pack by your unique offer. What does your product or service offer that makes it special and different from other similar products or services?
5. THE HEADLINE
Your headline will make or break your billboard. The headline has one job! Get attention. Include a benefit in your headline to improve results.
6. TESTIMONIALS AND CREDENTIALS
TESTIMONIALS are statements made by your customers to you expressing their satisfaction with your product or service. Get permission in writing to use their TESTIMONIAL.
CREDENTIAL is a certification, degree or training that is appropriate to what you are selling. Include it on your billboard.
7. CALL FOR ACTION
Now that you have your readers attention, tell them what to do. Make your call to action very simple.
Make it easy for interested parties to respond to your call for action. How do you do this? If you want them to call you, provide an 800 number for them to place an order. Make sure the person answering the phone is properly trained and well-informed about the event, product or service.
Keep your message simple and clear so that your viewers can understand what it is about at a glance. The success of your billboard will amaze you!
